ALMA MAHLER MUSIKVEREIN
“The artist’s role is to challenge the status quo,
to question the norm,
and to inspire others to do the same.”
The Alma Mahler Musikverein (AMMV) is a young and vibrant organization founded in 2022 by its artistic director and conductor, Alja Klemenc. The organization’s aim is to inspire people to appreciate art and music in a fresh and contemporary format.
The ensemble comprises talented young international musicians who are either studying or have recently completed their musical training at the Gustav Mahler Privatuniversität für Musik in Klagenfurt, Austria. Alma Mahler Musikverein offers these aspiring musicians the opportunity to perform in a contemporary format, gaining invaluable experience and connections that can assist them in their music careers.
The organization’s artistic vision lies in the deconstruction and rediscovery of classical and contemporary music. Their projects, such as the “green stage, green performance,” aim to make music accessible to a wider audience while promoting environmental action.
The organisation draws inspiration from the legendary figure Alma Mahler-Werfel, a woman who contributed to a lively exchange between the arts and was an inspiration to a diverse range of artists. Alma Mahler Musikverein strives to continue her legacy by creating innovative and educational projects that integrate painting, literature, and architecture with music.

if we are conscious of it as Art while yet it looks like Nature.”
